You say that dump.fm “seems like another community focused on disposable art and appropriation” as though it’s a bad thing. Why isn’t the community in itself a good? I was once in a geeky community like that: undergraduate drawing and painting classes. They were all about being geeky, making stuff with borrowed ideas, and chucking it once you realized you didn’t know anything and you’d learned a lot since you made that life drawing you were once so proud of. We, people, rush through images. Some stick, others don’t. dump.fm does likewise, just online. What’s the ethical, aesthetic, or political wrong in that?

I give credit to you and Gelber for this unintentional ricochet. Gelber: he would agree with you about the democratic ethos of dump. This has helped my research in social emergence. Thanks!
