Though I have not seen the exhibition, I think you make an excellent point – “As a rule, sound infiltrates space, and the nearby listener can’t help but inhabit what is heard”. However, most people still need visuals to help them understand what’s being put to them [human nature is still very primitive in this way – as with dating & romance].
