Ken Johnson returns to The Review Panel, September 20, with Karen E. Jones and Sarah Nicole Prickett
New York Times critic Ken Johnson has been a regular member of The Review Panel since day one, appearing with Maureen Mullarkey and Jerry Saltz at the National Academy in October 2004. Next Tuesday he makes his first appearance in our new home, Brooklyn Public Library. Joining him and moderator David Cohen are two newcomers to the popular critical forum: art historian and curator Karen E. Jones teaches at CUNY and has written for Art and Text, Tema Celeste, and Time Out New York; and Sarah Nicole Prickett, founder and editor of Adult Magazine, is a contributor to Artforum, T Magazine, The New Inquiry and other publications.
Among the artists up for discussion, A.L.Steiner’s show opens at Koenig & Clinton Thursday. But don’t plan on making that the center of your gallery night socializing! From the press release: “In order to reduce what is known as ‘productive’ labor, the artist has arranged for the gallery’s work schedule to be limited to 20-hours per week for the duration of the exhibition. The reduced gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12–4PM.” And that includes the opening day. Lauren Clay’s installation at BAM is open during business hours.
