This lecture on April 1 was the first public airing of ideas in what is a new area of interest to me, a topic at the nexus of renaissance painting, masculinity studies, fashion theory and the history of religion.  It is my intention to take this study further, and as I’m extremely conscious of the embryonic nature of these speculations, with much potential for erroneous thinking, this video will remain here for a limited time.  I’m posting it to give an opportunity to friends and colleagues who could not attend but might have wanted to hear the lecture to do so and to share their criticisms of it. Thanks to all who listen for their patience in doing so. DC
