Be sure to catch Judith Schaechter’s mesmerizingly bizarre show of stained-glass panels, closing Saturday at Claire Oliver. Channeling sources are diverse as the Mexican muralists, mannerism, Pattern & Decoration painting and, of course, despite the resolute secularism of their imagery, gothic church glazing, these intense, gaudy, heartfelt meditations in glass are at once ethereal and grotesque, earnest and camp, socially astute and endearingly solipsistic.
