On view in the artist’s thematic solo exhibition, What Mattered Most: A Life in Art and Letters, closing this Saturday at First Street Gallery. Suzi Evalenko’s show marks the centenary plus one year of her late mother’s birth through portraits of Alla, as this passionate artist was known, and her circle of cultured friends. Interspersed alongside the paintings and drawings are extracts from a trove of correspondence the artist found among her mother’s possessions.
