Like her subject, Brian O’Doherty-expert Brenda Moore-McCann is a true Irish polymath—for one thing, they are both qualified as medical doctors. Moore-McCann, who teaches at Trinity College, Dublin, is the author of Brian O’Doherty/Patrick Ireland: Between Categories (Lund Humphries 2009) an exhaustive study of this conceptual art pioneer, sometime editor of Art in America and  author of the legendary polemic, Inside The White Cube. Her monograph was reviewed at artcritical by David Carrier in 2010. Moore-McCann now follows up with a meticulously edited collection of O’Doherty’s correspondence with fellow artists, curators, and other personalities that sheds light not just on the remarkable creative force that is O’Doherty but the riveting political and artistic times in which his unique vision evolved.
