Featured item from THE LIST: Brooklyn Photographs at BRIC

Yolanda Andrade, Stefanie Apple, Nelson Bakerman, Leigh Davis, Max Kozloff, George Malave, Meryl Meisler, Patrick D. Pagnano, Sergio Purtell, Larry Racioppo, Russell Frederick.
Each of the 11 photographers in this group exhibition, curated by Elizabeth Ferrer, presents a body of work on a specific theme: childhood in Williamsburg in the 1960s, Halloween in the 1970s, or today’s rapidly gentrifying post-industrial landscape, to give three examples. Many of the artists stress the cultural and social diversity of the borough’s ever-fluctuating demographics. Max Kozloff, for instance, shot a West Indian Carnival in a series that includes The Striped Pants, Brooklyn, 1991, pictured here.

On view through October 29, 2017. 647 Fulton Street, at Rockwell Place (BAM) in Downtown Brooklyn (718) 875-4047
