Parting Party: Cohen bids farewell as curator at the Studio School

John Newman’s orange and pinkspiration, last seen at the artist’s 2008 solo show at the New York Studio School, is on view at the same venue from September 9 as part of the exhibition Decameron: David Cohen’s Decade of Exhibitions at the New York Studio School, 2000-2010.  Cohen is standing down to devote himself more fully to artcritical.  The show title alludes to Boccaccio’s masterwork both because there are ten years under view and because of the diversity of artists and genres represented. Other artists in this sprawling display of paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos include Frances Barth,  Rosemarie Beck, Rudy Burckhardt, Jack Bush, Susanna Coffey, Peter de Francia, Martha Diamond, Lois Dodd, Rackstraw Downes, Sandra Fisher, Andrew Forge, Laurie Frick, Frank Galuszka, Françoise Gilot, Barbara Grossman, Steven Harvey,  Eric Holzman, Merlin James, Jilaine Jones, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, William King, Alain Kirili, R.B. Kitaj, Mernet Larsen, Ariane Lopez-Huici, Mercedes  Matter, Melissa Meyer, Ruth Miller, Nick Miller, George Nick, Graham Nickson, Thomas  Nozkowski, Philip Pearlstein, Vita Petersen, Carl Plansky, Milton Resnick, Joyce Robins, Dorothea Rockburne, Harry Roseman, Sean Scully, Susan Shatter, Rebecca Smith, Clintel Steed, Pat Steir, Lilian Tomasko, and William Tucker.  more information
