Rebecca Allan is a New York-based painter, writer, and educator. Exhibiting in the United States and abroad for more than 25 years, she was most recently the Director of Public Programs (2006–2014) at Bard Graduate Center and Curator of Education at the National Academy Museum (2004-2006). Allan is a principal creator of The Crossroads Project — a performance piece on sustainability — in collaboration with physicist Robert Davies, The Fry Street Quartet, and composer Laura Kaminsky. She received her MFA from Kent State University, and BA from Allegheny College, and has been a fellow at The Hermitage Artists Retreat; Centrum Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Dorland Mountain Arts Colony, as well as a visiting artist at venues including Lebanese American University, Utah State University, and Doane College in Nebraska. She also teaches art criticism and art history at The College of Mount Saint Vincent and Marymount Manhattan College.
